Call script — the introduction

01 · Open"Hey, is this [business]? Ok, great."

02 · Disarm — neighbours, not vendors "I don't want to BS you or anything, my wife and I just started a local business and we're calling other local businesses and introducing ourselves. If you have a minute?" ■ Stop. Wait for the minute. Don't talk over the yes.

03 · The offer"Wonderful. So, basically we're offering some free website mockups. We checked your website, and it does need some updating and housekeeping, so I can build you that free mockup…"The one specific thing, if they ask: …

04 · No pressure either way"…and if you like it we can discuss working together and how I can add to your business. If not, no harm, no foul."

05 · The ask — small and specific"I just need 5–10 min of your time on a video call, so I can show you what I got."

06 · Book it"What day and time would be best for you?"■ Open question — they pick. Confirm it back before you hang up. Video calls are 7:00–8:30 PM — steer them there, then fill the checklist.

Objections · they already have a site

"I'm not interested."

"Fair enough — most people say that before I've said anything. One question and I'll let you go: are you getting enough calls right now, or would you take more?"

Don't fight it. Convert it into one question. If they answer, you're in.

"I just paid a lot for that site."

"Then I'dwe'd feel bad telling you to throw it out. Let meus show you the mock-up anyway — if what you've got is fine, I'llwe'll tell you it's fine."

They're defending money already spent. Don't make them defend it twice.

"What's wrong with mine?"

"[The one specific thing you found.] That's it. I'm not going to sit here and list stuff at you."

Restraint reads as honesty. A list reads as a pitch — and invites an argument you can't win over the phone.

"My guy handles it."

"That's good. Is he still picking up when something breaks? … When'd he last touch it?"

Most "my guy" answers end at the second question.

"I get all my work from referrals."

"That's the best problem to have. What happens the month the referrals dry up? Or when a guy hears your name, googles you, and finds a site that doesn't load? Referrals still google you before they call."

Don't attack referrals. Attack the gap referrals leave.

"That's too expensive."

"What's your average job worth? … [$8K]? So this pays for itself if it brings one job a year. Everything after that's profit. If one job a year isn't worth it, I'm the wrong call."

Reframe to job value, not monthly cost. Every contractor does this math instantly.

"I tried a marketing company. Waste of money."

"Yeah — they sold you leads and disappeared. I'm not selling leads. I build the site, I run the profile,We're not selling leads. We build the site, we run the profile, and at the end of the year the site is yours. They rented you something. I'mWe're handing you something."

Don't defend the industry. Ownership is your answer.

"I'm too busy right now."

"That's exactly why I'mwe're only asking for ten minutes. Give meus Thursday, I'll show you what I builtBrook will show you what he built, and you decide. Morning or evening?"

Two options. Never "when's good for you?" — that's for step 06, after they've already said yes.

"Send me some information."

"I can — but honestly the email won't tell you much. What I've got is a mock-up of your own site, takes about ten minutes to walk through. Thursday at 7, or Saturday morning?"

Polite no. Treat it as one. If they insist: get the email, send it, and set the follow-up call before you hang up. → tag SEND TEXT

"Where are you located?"

"Laurel — right up the road. I buildWe build for local businesses across Maryland and Northern Virginia, and I'llBrook will meet you at a coffee shop before you spend a dollar."

Local is the strongest card in the deck. Play it early, not defensively.

"Let me think about it."

"Sure. What's the part you're thinking about — the money, or whether it'll actually work?"

Never accept a vague stall. Make them name the real objection, then answer that one. → tag CB with a day

"How much?" — answer it, never dodge

"$250 a month, no setup fee. Covers the build, the hosting, and your Google Business Profile — and meBrook looking after it all year. First month when you sign, and at the end of the twelve months the site is yours. Or two grand for the build — half to start, half when it's done — and the first year of care is included either way."

Say the number, then shut up — first one to talk loses. Do not say "no contract" or "cancel any month": it's a 12-month term, and early exit accelerates the balance.

Gatekeeper / not the owner

"No problem — who's the best person to talk to about the website, and when are they usually around?"

→ tag CALL AGAIN with the name and time.

Answer the objection, then ask for the time.
